Background
Dr. Kevin Waterloo is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in November 2014. While at NYCC, Dr. Waterloo was recognized for his academic achievements, making the Dean’s List and being inducted into Phi Chi Omega Chiropractic Honor Society. He completed his undergraduate studies in pre-chiropractic at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating in May 2012. Dr. Waterloo is trained in several chiropractic techniques, including Diversified, SOT (Sacral Occipital Technique), Thompson Drop, Nimmo, and RockTape. He also utilizes muscle testing to support his patient care. Dr. Waterloo has a special interest in treating concussions and providing non-surgical spinal decompression to help those with chronic pain and injury.
A Personal Journey to Chiropractic
Dr. Waterloo's passion for chiropractic care stems from a personal experience with his mother’s back pain. "I vividly remember my mom struggling with a disc bulge in her lower back," says Dr. Waterloo. "The pain was so severe, she could hardly stand, let alone take care of my younger sister. After seeing a chiropractor, her quality of life improved dramatically, and I was deeply moved by the power of chiropractic care." This experience inspired Dr. Waterloo to pursue chiropractic care as a profession, and he feels called to pay it forward by helping others experience the same transformative benefits.
The Chiropractic Approach
Dr. Waterloo's goal as a chiropractor is to change lives—first by alleviating pain and symptoms, then by improving quality of life through chiropractic care. "Chiropractic is not just about fixing a problem; it's about teaching people that chiropractic can be a part of a healthier life," he explains. The adjustment is the cornerstone of his practice, resetting the brain and enabling it to enter a learning mode that down-regulates muscle tension, relieves pain, improves mood, and enhances overall health. Dr. Waterloo is committed to educating his patients about posture, proper lifting techniques, and optimal sleeping positions to prevent future issues and promote long-term wellness.
On a Personal Note
Dr. Waterloo is married to Miranda, and together they have two energetic boys, Graham and Otto. As a family, they enjoy traveling, trying new foods, and spending time outdoors hiking. Dr. Waterloo believes in the importance of balance and staying active, and he encourages his patients to make physical activity a regular part of their daily lives. He finds immense joy and fulfillment in his work, particularly when a patient expresses their gratitude after experiencing relief and recovery. "Being able to help people when others couldn’t—that’s the most rewarding part of being a chiropractor," says Dr. Waterloo.
